Kelly Hayes was the lead guitarist in the hard rock band from Florida called Cold.[1] He joined the band before their mainstream debut "Cold", and after the old guitarist, Matt Loughran, left, while they were under the "Grundig" name. He left the band in spring of 2004.
After departing Cold, Hayes joined fellow Jacksonville musicians Allele to continue playing guitar. He helped a lot to create the "Cold sound" with the spooky guitars and the catchy riffs, on his later days in Cold prior to his leaving, he used signature ESP guitars, two of them based on the Eclipse model with a black satin finish and a white or red spider logo, he also got an ESP signature Horizon model with a transparent red finish over a flame maple top with Cold Kanji inlays on the fretboard. Both models included ebony fretboards, Sperzel locking tuners, EMG 81 active pickups and a Gotoh bridge with string-thru body routings. Kelly helped in the recording of Allele's debut album, Point of Origin, but left the group in January 2006 for "Personal and Legal Issues".
Kelly now has started work on a new project, not named or even fully formed as of yet. Its said it may have members of Cold and Allele, as well as few of his long time friends. Not much is known about the project at the moment.
Kelly Hayes current MySpace has stated that after a good career in the American music industry that he has decided to take on other endeavors and will not be performing anymore as an artist, Kelly has stated he has a family which is his main concern now. However, this was proved about a week later to be someone posing as Kelly in his account. He has stated that he is not leaving the music business, just "exploring other avenues" of it. His real name is Stephan Duwayne Hayes.
It was announced via the Allele MySpace that Kelly has rejoined Allele, which is planning to write a new album. Next to Parallel came out on September 27, 2011.
